I saw two police men on bikes trying to get this guy off the sidewalk and he wouldn’t leave. I ran over and asked if I could help. I gave the guy two dollars, took his picture, and he got up and left. I never had a chance to ask him his story.

After many months and lots of pictures I finally sat down with Steve and got his story. He served his time in Vietnam and he was a big time photographer. He took lots of pictures while he was there and had to smuggle them back on his return. He sold one of them to life magazine for two thousand dollars. He knew his cameras because he mentioned all of them and knew what he was talking about. After Vietnam he was married for twenty years and his wife caught him having a realationship online with another women. He has one kid that lives on his farm in Arizona. He was big into computers and use to make mother boards for a living. But photography was always his passion. He had a dark room and everything. He had a girl friend that was a nude model, but then he started drinking and lost everything. He says he’s happy and has no problem admitting that his drinking is what caused all his problems.
