I actually sat on a milk crate for twenty minutes laughing with these guys. This guy was not drunk but was just happy to be around. He told jokes and said that the most important thing about life was to laugh every day. We got a little bit more serious and he told me that he was an interior navigator on a navy ship for twenty years- two terms in Viet Nam. He also told me he owned a house in Minneapolis, but after his wife died it was too lonely to stay there. He says he still owns the house but is much happier with his street family. We both talked about how lonely it was to live in a big house after our wifes died.
