Some changes at GlobalCompassion.com

I’ve decided to make some changes to the format here. From now on I will be posting photos in the following categories:
1. Photos of the day (individual photos)
2. Featured photographers (photo series)
3. News and views (occasional posts related to the site content)
When I started displaying photos of people and culture, I decided to post one series per week. I had two reasons for choosing that format: I believed photos are best appreciated in series, and I thought it would be less work to publish once a week. I’m changing the format for three reasons: 1) I think people are more engaged by websites that publish new content every day, 2) I think it’s easier to post a single photo each day than to post photos in series every week, and 3) I think occassional “News and views” are helpful to provide focus and context.
I will still post photo essays now and then, but I will only do so when I have a particularly strong series (strength measured in quality and in keeping with the purpose of the site). People who have signed up for the email list will receive no more than one message per month (e.g., when a photo series is posted). I encourage you to sign up for our email list if you haven’t already.
Your feedback is welcome in the comments below and at any time. Thanks for making GlobalCompassion.com a regular stop when you’re online!
